Missouri Compromise,
Compromise of 1850, GA Platform
&
Kansas-Nebraska
Act
The
Missouri Compromise, the Compromise of 1850, and the Kansas- Nebraska Act were
all things that lead up to the Civil War. These acts that were put in place
helped reduce but also cause tension between the northern and southern states.
The Missouri Compromise was the balance between free and slave states. For
every free slave that was added to the country, a slave had to be added as
well. This Compromise also worked the other way around. For example, Missouri a
free slave entered the country, and Maine also entered the country as a slave
state. The Compromise of 1850 is a result of the Missouri Compromise. California wanted to join the country
as a free state but there were no over areas ready to join the country as a
slave state. If California joined, it would upset the balance of the free and
slave states. The result, the
Compromise of 1850. The Kansas-Nebraska Act was also related to the Missouri
Compromise and Compromise of 1850.
The Kansas- Nebraska Act was the line separating the free and slave
states. The GA platform also
delayed the union from the confederacy.
